"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you." - Matthew 5:10-12

Help for the hurting

"And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honoured, all the members rejoice with it." - 1 Corinthians 12:26

More Christians around the world are being persecuted today than ever before in history. When they suffer, we suffer with them.

Although we might not be physically near them to offer support, there are things we can do to stand with them in their suffering. One thing we cannot do, however, is close our ears to their pain.

Prayer

"Meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains," - Colossians 4:3

The most powerful and important thing we can do is to pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters. That they would be filled with God's strength; that they would endure, and be comforted by the great Holy Spirit; that opportunities would be given to them to share the glorious hope which they carry - Jesus Christ - with their persecutors.

"Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much

Letter

Write

It can be so encouraging for someone to receive a written note, even if it is just to let them know that they are not suffering alone. It can make all the difference between despairing and remaining determined in faith.

One word of encouragement can inject fresh hope and faith into a person's soul, as they realise that indeed when they are suffering, the whole body suffers with them.

By filling in the form below with some encouraging words, a scripture or a prayer, we will make sure those letters reach the hands of persecuted Christians in the nation you indicate beside your name in the 'Name' field of the form.

It will only take a couple of minutes for you but could mean the world of difference for a suffering brother or sister in Christ.

Some rules to please consider:

  • Pray first: Ask God to give you the right words and scriptures to encourage the recipient.
  • Be sensitive: Don't dwell on their plight or boast in your blessings.
  • Keep it simple: Use basic English for non-English speakers, or write in their native language if you can.
  • Security: DO NOT mention names of ministries or people or criticise their government or other religion. You may include your name and nation, but not your address.

Your words will bring such encouragement and be a shining light in the dark.

"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." - John 6:63
